Job summary

Greenbrier Central, LLC in Kennett, MO is seeking a Welder 1 to perform quality welding of railcar parts and fixtures using manual or semi-automatic welding processes.

You will fit, align, and clamp parts, prep surfaces, follow SOPs, inspect welds, and maintain safety standards in a production environment. Experience with arc welding and the ability to obtain weld qualifications is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Ability to complete and pass weld qualifications testing after attending company provided weld training.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with arc welding equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fits, aligns and clamps railcar parts, usually in jigs and fixtures, to prepare for welding steel.
  • Performs manual or semi-automatic arc welding of railcar parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies on a bench, floor, or assembly line.
  • Cleans and preps surface area to be welded using a grinder or other hand tools designated for the job.
  • Follows weld procedures outlined in SOPs, preheating, maintaining heat and speed to ensure penetration and bead size.
  • Inspects welds, repairs defective welds, and performs minor repairs to welding equipment.
  • Maintains safety and housekeeping standards in the work area.
