Job summary

BNSF Railway is seeking a Railcar Carman in Minot to repair and maintain railcars, ensuring safe and reliable operation across our network. You will work in the Mechanical Department contributing to the backbone of our rail infrastructure and player a key role in safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include inspecting frames, brakes, and wheels, and using welding equipment to join metals. You will operate forklifts and other machines, perform repairs in varied weather, and participate in

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Ability to work safely in varied weather and industrial environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle tools.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights as needed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect railcar frames, bodies, safety appliances, and wheels for defects to ensure proper repairs.
• Maintain, replace, inspect, and repair air brake components and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Operate electrical and gas welding equipment and torches to join metals and shape parts.
• Operate forklifts, mobile cranes, track mobiles, and UTVs as required.
• Work in a safety-sensitive environment with extreme weather, loud noises, and heavy machinery.
