Job summary

BNSF Railway's Mechanical Department seeks a skilled Carman to help maintain and repair railcars, ensuring safe and efficient operation. You will inspect frames, wheels, and safety devices, perform air brake maintenance, and weld metal components with various torches.

Travel is minimal and training is company-paid. The role requires physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, comfortable working in diverse conditions, and compliance with safety policies.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work now and in the future without sponsorship.
• Able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
• Ability to work safely in various weather and on uneven surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Inspect railcar frames, bodies, safety appliances, and wheels for defects to ensure proper repair.
• Maintain and repair air brake components and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Operate welding equipment to join and cut metal parts.
• Operate off-highway vehicles and lifting equipment as needed.
