Job summary

UTLX, part of Marmon Holdings backed by Berkshire Hathaway, seeks a Repair Supervisor to oversee safe, compliant repair of tank cars and related equipment. The role will primarily operate on the 3rd shift in an on-site environment.

You will supervise hourly workers, interpret drawings, ensure compliance with AAR, DOT and FRA, inspect repairs, and drive safety and quality initiatives. This position requires five days per week at the facility, with possible overtime and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must have 3–5 years of supervisory/leadership experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings and regulatory documents.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• High accuracy and attention to detail in a production environment.
• Able to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise hourly workers across all phases of railroad car repair safely and efficiently.
• Interpret drawings and blueprints for accurate repair work.
• Ensure compliance with AAR, DOT, FRA and company requirements.
• Inspect completed work for quality and regulatory conformance.
• Train, coach, and discipline assigned employees.
• Schedule personnel to meet production targets when possible.
• Maintain labor and material usage records.
• Support continuous quality improvements and Responsible Care initiatives.
• Participate in quality programs and safety management systems.
• Enforce safety programs and SOPs; address hazards promptly.
• Enter tank cars through 20-inch manways; PPE compliance.
