Job summary

UTLX, part of Marmon Holdings backed by Berkshire Hathaway, seeks a Carman Helper to support skilled railcar repair and maintenance in a demanding outdoor environment. You will perform hands-on tasks, follow safety procedures, and assist with various shop activities using industrial tools.

On-site five days a week with overtime as required, this role emphasizes reliability, safety awareness, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or ability to pass Combined Basic Skills Assessment Test.

Responsibilities

• Assists plant production personnel performing car repair work involving burning, fitting, grinding, blasting, and painting.
• Operates pneumatic and hydraulic tools, jacks, cutting torches, cranes and forklifts.
• Performs tasks such as changing gaskets, hoses, valves, repairing piping, and pipe fitting.
• Acts as a safety watch for tank car entry and reports hazards.
• Maintains area in a neat and orderly manner and follows safety procedures.
