Job summary

Qualifications

• Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math.
• High school education or GED required.
• Must have or have had 49CFR242 and/or 49CFR240 qualifications.
• At least 1-year job-related experience; or equivalent education and experience.
• Ability to pass training and required testing.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Control and coordinate train movements while switching railcars.
• Inspect locomotive before runs to verify fuel, sand, water, and FRA compliance.
• Follow switching orders and communicate with crew by radio.
• Observe signals and operate locomotive safely according to railroad rules.
• Maintain records of cars moved, origins, destinations, and cargo.
• Perform other duties as requested or required.
