Job summary

Watco is hiring for a conductor/engineer at our switching operations. You will control and coordinate train movements in yards, industrial plants, and related sites to load and unload railcars safely and efficiently.

The role is manual labor and requires proficiency in switching, signaling, and following railroad rules. The position emphasizes reliable attendance, ability to follow directions, basic English literacy, and basic math.

Qualifications

• Read, write, and communicate in English and understand basic mathematic concepts.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance
• Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule
• Read switching orders and communicate switching information
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of train crews
• Observe signals and operate locomotive as per railroad rules and safety procedures
• Connect air hoses and couple/uncouple cars during switching operations
• Inspect equipment and maintain records of cars switched
• Ma ke minor repairs to equipment and report major issues
