Job summary

Watco seeks an Assistant Trainmaster to supervise and coordinate train crew activities within yards and switching sites, ensuring safe, economical, and efficient handling of railcars to meet customer needs.

You will oversee daily switching, manage crew performance, and ensure compliance with federal railroad regulations and accurate reporting. Must hold locomotive engineer and conductor certifications, a valid driver’s license, and be 18+ with a High School diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current locomotive engineers and conductor’s certification.
• Must have a current and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of train crews within yard or switching locations.
• Notify and direct switching orders and locomotive movements.
• Manage cars and track through systems and reports; maintain accurate daily train lists and reporting.
• Adjust locomotive requirements to optimize fuel use and locomotive utilization.
• Ensure compliance with federal railroad regulations and track conditions; demonstrate reliable attendance.
