Job summary

Watco Transloading is seeking an Assistant Trainmaster to supervise train crews and coordinate switching operations within yards and facilities. The role focuses on safe, efficient movement of cars, adherence to schedules, and controlling departmental costs.

You will ensure accurate reporting, oversee daily lists, and manage incidents or accidents with proposed corrective actions, while maintaining compliance with federal regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

• Must hold locomotive engineers and conductor’s certification.
• Must have a current and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of train crews.
• Receive oral or written instructions indicating which cars are to be switched.
• Notify train crew of switching orders and locations in yard.
• Manage cars online through various systems and reports.
• Ensure daily train lists and weekly operational reporting are accurate.
• Approve man-hours and forward to appropriate personnel.
• Investigate accidents/incidents with causes and solutions.
• Understand major cost factors and their impact on finances.
• Adjust locomotive consist requirements to optimize fuel use and utilization.
• Apply federal railroad regulations, guidelines, and rules.
• Be aware of track conditions and their productivity impact.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as requested.
