Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company, is hiring for a First Shift role in Sidney, NE, focused on breaking down railcar wheelsets, reconditioning axles, and mounting new wheels. Precision and safety are critical as wheelsets support nationwide rail travel.

The role requires reading micrometers and calipers, following procedures, and maintaining accurate production records. A High School Diploma or GED is required, with overtime and various shift possibilities to meet production needs.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret basic measurement tools.
• Must follow all safety regulations and maintain accurate documentation.
• Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to read and write legibly to complete production reports with accuracy.
• Must be a quality oriented team player.

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead cranes to move wheelsets and components.
• Break down railcar wheelsets and recondition axles for new sets.
• Mount new wheels to reconditioned axles as part of wheelset reconditioning.
• Recondition wheelsets and press bearings on wheelsets as required.
• Move material and maintain a clean, safe work area.
