Job summary

TYLin is seeking a motivated Senior Track and Civil Engineer to join our Rail & Transit team. This role targets professionals with 8–12 years of experience who will support and lead components of complex transportation projects across planning, design, procurement, and construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in rail track design (light rail, heavy rail, commuter rail, intercity passenger rail, or freight).
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one U.S. state (or ability to obtain licensure via reciprocity).
• PMP certification is a plus.
• Proven experience leading complex rail infrastructure projects.
• Advanced knowledge of track geometry, alignment design, and corridor integration.
• Proficiency with industry design tools such as Bentley OpenRail, OpenRoads, InRoads, MicroStation, Civil 3D, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of applicable U.S. standards and guidelines (AREMA, FRA, state/local).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the discipline lead for track design on major rail and transit projects across the U.S.
• Lead the development of horizontal and vertical alignments, turnouts, crossovers, and yard layouts.
• Oversee preparation and review of engineering plans, specifications, and design criteria.
• Conduct corridor studies, constructability analyses, and phasing plans.
• Coordinate with signaling, traction power, OCS, communications, civil, structural, and geotechnical teams.
• Provide senior-level technical review, QA, and risk management guidance.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across feasibility through construction support.
• Interface with clients, transit agencies, freight railroads, and regulators to resolve issues.
• Mentor and develop junior/mid-level engineers.
• Support business development, including proposals and client engagement.
• Contribute to TYLin’s best practices for track design and constructibility.
