Job summary

Metropolitan Council in the Twin Cities area seeks a Rail Transit Supervisor to oversee Light Rail operations from the Rail Control Center. You will monitor rail movement and direct operations while supervising field crews to ensure safety and on-time service.

Strong leadership and transit operations experience, plus a valid driver’s license, are required. This is an on-site role with weekend/holiday coverage and a DOT-regulated safety environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in transit/operations/supervisory roles, with a degree in Business Administration, Transportation, or related field.
• Ability to monitor and direct rail movements in a control center and in the field.
• Must meet DOT medical qualifications and possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Oversees day-to-day activities for assigned rail territories with safety and on-time performance focus.
• Monitors operator performance, on-time rail performance, and service delays; documents incidents.
• Reacts quickly to incidents using internal/external resources for safe resolutions.
• Coordinates with maintenance to ensure equipment availability for uninterrupted service.
• Works 80% in a control center monitoring rail movement; 20% in field support, regardless of weather.
• Adheres to company policies and supervision guidelines.
