Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Management or satisfactory equivalent.
  • Five years of full-time related experience, including three years in a managerial/supervisory capacity.
  • Knowledge of Mass Transit/Railroad Operations, Labor Relations, and Public Relations.
  • Knowledge of personnel and employment policies.
  • Knowledge of Staten Island Railway System.
  • Strong adaptability and change management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise train dispatchers, agent/operators, conductors, engineers, and clerical staff.
  • Train operating personnel and oversee terminal operations.
  • Respond to public dissatisfaction and complaints by investigating issues and resolving problems.
  • Approve and verify records, time sheets, reports, and related documentation.
  • Conduct operational testing of operating employees.
  • Direct the SIR safety function, including developing accident prevention programs and conducting on-site accident investigations and pre- and post-site safety reviews.
  • Develop strategies to reduce accidents and associated costs.
  • Recommend procedural changes to foster a safer workplace.
  • Manage procedures to ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.
