Job summary

Network Rail Consulting seeks a Systems Modelling Subject Matter Expert in New York to support a complex modernization program. You will provide system simulation expertise, validate performance, and contribute to requirements and design criteria.

The role requires deep experience in rail systems simulation, CBTC concepts, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and vendors. Hybrid working arrangements are available with a focus on delivering results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Transportation Systems, or related field.
  • Experience in rail systems simulation, operations modeling, systems engineering, or train control performance analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze simulation models.
  • Experience in capacity planning.
  • CBTC concepts: moving-block signaling, braking models, headway calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Determine critical performance parameters for system design and operations.
  • Analyze performance improvements from CBTC modernization, including safety, reliability, and efficiency gains.
  • Configure simulation scenarios for normal service, degraded modes, and incident scenarios.
  • Support development of subsystem-level or real-time simulation models.
  • Evaluate performance impacts of design choices such as block design and signaling parameters.
  • Present performance findings to client and stakeholders.
