Job summary

Ports America in Baltimore is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager Rail to direct, plan, and supervise terminal operations and staff. You will oversee Foreman and labor, determine daily labor needs, and ensure safe, efficient service for our customers and cargo.

This role requires working a flexible schedule, improving procedures, and coordinating with M&R/Terminal Departments. A High School diploma and 1+ year in supply chain or logistics are required; TWIC card and US driver’s license are

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of experience in supply chain, logistics, warehouse, or related discipline.
  • Experience with Computerized Operating Systems.
  • Obtain a TWIC Card issued by the DHS.
  • Valid US Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the work activities of the Foreman, Labor, and other personnel; ensuring performance expectations and customer needs are met.
  • Determine the amount of labor needed for each day and ensure labor is order appropriately for your assigned area.
  • Make decisions affecting overtime cost and general expenditures.
  • Determine additional staffing / labor needs and contact appropriate representative in advance.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy and make appropriate changes as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s Safety program.
  • Work closely with M&R/Terminal Departments to ensure equipment allocation meets demands.
  • Maintain positive relations with Labor and ensure that the Collective Bargaining Agreements are understood.
  • Develop, communicate, maintain, and improve operating and administrative procedures.
