Job summary

Ports America is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager Rail to direct, plan and supervise terminal operations and staff, ensuring safe, efficient, and productive service for assigned customers, terminal area, and cargo type.

The role includes developing operational and financial goals, ensuring payroll accuracy, and coordinating with M&R/Terminal Departments while upholding Ports America Values of Safety, Integrity, Pursue Excellence, Create Happiness, Connect and One Team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• 1+ year of experience in supply chain, logistics, warehouse, or related discipline.
• Obtain a TWIC Card issued by DHS.
• Valid US Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Direct, plan and supervise the duties of terminal operations and staff.
• Determine daily labor needs and allocate labor accordingly.
• Control overtime costs and general expenditures in the interest of the company and customers.
• Coordinate staffing with labor representatives and ensure cost-effective staffing.
• Maintain payroll accuracy and ensure safety and compliance with programs.
• Work with M&R/Terminal Departments to allocate equipment meeting demands.
• Ensure adherence to safety programs and collective bargaining agreements.
• Communicate performance expectations to labor and management staff.
• Develop and improve operating and administrative procedures.
