Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is seeking a Superintendent of Training for Rail Maintenance to lead development, implementation, and oversight of training programs ensuring safety, technical proficiency, and regulatory compliance across the fleet.

The role partners with maintenance leadership to align training with operations, procurement of new vehicles, and industry best practices, while tracking qualifications and ensuring readiness for emergencies and daily maintenance challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Six years of progressive maintenance or vehicle repair experience.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience overseeing technical or operational staff.
• Ability to pass CORI background check and MBTA medical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee comprehensive rail maintenance training programs.
• Supervise training facilities, materials, and testing resources.
• Analyze training effectiveness and implement improvements.
• Coordinate with operations to schedule training.
• Maintain a training tracking matrix for certifications and requirements.
• Deliver classroom and hands-on technical training.
