Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is seeking a Superintendent of Training – Rail Maintenance to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of training programs for Rail Maintenance personnel. The role ensures safety, technical skills, maintenance procedures, and regulatory compliance are embedded in daily operations.

The position supervises training facilities, analyzes program effectiveness, and collaborates with educational institutions, vendors, and regulators

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is required.
• Six years of progressively responsible experience in vehicle/rail maintenance or related field is preferred.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience overseeing maintenance or operational personnel is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, database applications, PeopleSoft or similar systems is expected.
• Strong organizational, analytical, quantitative, multi-tasking, and time-management skills are essential.
• Excellent customer service, presentation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive training programs for Rail Maintenance staff.
• Supervise training facilities and ensure instructional materials, equipment, and testing resources are organized and available.
• Analyze the effectiveness of training programs and implement updates or corrective actions.
• Coordinate training for new equipment, technologies, vehicle modifications, and regulatory changes.
