Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor for a rail operations project based in Pearl City, HI. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and continually improving the HSE Management System in alignment with FTA Standards, OSHA regulations, GBMS standards, and local procedures, while fostering a proactive safety culture.

The position involves supporting risk assessments, audits, and the development of emergency response measures, with a 6pm–2am shift.

Qualifications

• Experience with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices in operations or projects.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and their application to safety programs.
• Familiarity with HSE management systems and continual improvement.
• Ability to identify hazards and perform risk assessments with control measures.
• Experience supporting HSE audits, inspections, and compliance verification.
• Strong communication skills for HSE engagement across the organization.
• Ability to prepare and deliver safety meetings and presentations.
• Experience documenting incidents, findings, and corrective actions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to establishing and improving the HSE Management System for the project.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, legal requirements, and customer requirements.
• Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, implement controls.
• Participate in HSE audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
• Develop and implement HSE programs to meet objectives and milestones.
• Promote HSE communication and site safety committee engagement.
• Develop emergency response measures and procedures.
• Monitor, report, and communicate HSE performance and trends.
• Investigate incidents and ensure lessons learned are captured.
