Job summary

HDR is seeking a Rail Designer/EIT in the United States (Ohio, Cincinnati) to support track and civil design efforts. You will develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates, and handle drainage, structural, and utilities tasks in collaboration with Project Managers and engineers.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with MicroStation, InRoads, and GEOPAK-route design, and are prepared to advance along HDR’s employee-owned culture. Full-time position with on-site work expectations.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on civil/track engineering experience is required.
  • Active participation in employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Support Rail Project Managers and Engineers to develop track and civil design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Take responsibility for civil and track engineering assignments, including drainage, structural and utilities tasks.
  • Develop design criteria, project guides, project meeting notes, and project controls while supporting Project Manager.
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects.
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

In the role of Rail Designer/EIT, we'll count on you to:

  • Support Rail Project Managers and Engineers to develop track and civil design plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Take responsibility for civil and track engineering assignments, including drainage, structural and utilities tasks
  • Develop design criteria, project guides, project meeting notes, and project controls while supporting Project Manager
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Local candidate preferred
