Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
• Competency in the use of safe patient handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients upon arrival to Radiology and facilitates the patient’s department experience.
• Answers all phone calls promptly and identifies self and unit.
• Verifies completeness of written orders and notifies physicians of inaccuracies.
• Supports Radiologic Technologists in planning and executing routine imaging procedures.
• Prepares patients for basic examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Informs staff of patient arrival and coordinates with departments.
• Assesses patient comfort and provides support accordingly.
• Provides direct patient care as needed to assist imaging services.
• Assists in transporting patients following WVUH’s policies.
• Escorts patients to and from procedure rooms and assists with arrival and departure.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment to prevent infection and protect patients and staff.
• Promotes team collaboration across radiology, nursing, residents, and physicians.
• Observes and reports patient concerns to a technologist, nurse, or physician.
• Coordinates outpatient and inpatient workflow and supports department communication.
• Assists with gowning and basic physical care to promote comfort.
• Engages in problem solving and crisis management to support high-quality patient care.
• Facilitates transportation of inpatients and ED patients to imaging and back.
