Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to deliver exceptional customer service. You will schedule appointments, gather complete demographic information, verify benefits, obtain pre-certifications, and collect co-pays as part of the pre-registration process.

You will work under the supervision of the Patient Access Service Center Supervisor/Manager, ensure accurate data entry in scheduling systems, and communicate financial responsibilities to patients when

Qualifications

• Good communication skills

• Ability to prioritize, organize, and coordinate daily workload
• Working knowledge of Protected Health Information (PHI)
• Understanding of insurance guidelines and pre-certification processes

Responsibilities

• Data entry into scheduling system for multiple departments (OR, Cardiology, Radiology) with accurate patient, physician, and insurance information
• Identify available times for procedures and ensure scheduling aligns with insurance verification
• Perform medical necessity checks and ABN notification when needed
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits by contacting patients, physicians, and payers
• Ensure compliance with operating procedures during system downtimes and maintain accurate patient records
• Document demographic, policy, subscriber, and payment information in ADT systems
• Communicate financial responsibilities to patients and collect pre-service payments when applicable
• Assist with scheduling, pre-registration, and pre-certification to support patient satisfaction
