Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Patient Access representative to schedule, verify insurance, and pre-register patients. The role emphasizes accurate data capture, high-quality customer service, and efficient handling of financial counseling when needed.

Under supervision, you will verify benefits, obtain approvals, and schedule with attention to payer requirements while maintaining PHI security. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Data entry into scheduling system with patient, physician and staff information (procedures, diagnosis codes, insurance).
• Identify available times for procedures and ensure scheduling enables insurance verification and pre-certification.
• Perform medical necessity checks on applicable appointments and notify ABN when necessary.
• Obtain complete insurance information and verify eligibility/benefits with patients, physicians and payors.
• Ensure pre-certification is documented timely and in accordance with SOPs.
• Capture and document patient demographics, subscriber and insurance information accurately in ADT system.
• Review accounts for accuracy to minimize errors and delays; ensure authorization for planned services.
• Assess financial responsibility and communicate liabilities to patients; collect pre-service payments and refer to financial counseling when needed.
• Coordinate with physician offices and departments to ensure patient satisfaction across scheduling, pre-registration and pre-certification.
• Answer calls, meet customer service metrics (ASR goals, ACD, etc.), and handle accounts with discrepancies.
• Index and label faxed physician orders promptly; use scheduling, verification, estimations and order systems.
