Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a Patient Registration Representative (PRN, Days) to register patients at hospital reception areas and offsite locations. You will answer patient questions about scheduled procedures and related charges, collect demographic and insurance information, and ensure accuracy in the registration process.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Bilingual ability in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Demonstrates high quality Service Excellence and telephone etiquette.
• Ensures patient confidentiality per HIPAA policies.
• Obtains demographic information from the patient to register accurately.
• Communicates with doctor’s office to obtain orders when missing or for medical necessity.
• Reviews and confirms patient’s financial information including insurance details.
• Verifies eligibility using TMHP, Availity, Relay Assurance, etc.
• Explains rates and upfront collection policies to patients.
• Handles cash drawers and provides receipts.
• Initiates and processes patient orders and registrations.
• Ensures pre-authorization and eligibility requirements are met.
• Completes MSP forms as appropriate.
• Provides Conditions of Admissions forms and collects signatures.
