Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• IV course completion as established by the department.
• 1 year of experience in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Supports Radiologic Technologists in planning and executing imaging procedures.
• Reports equipment failures immediately.
• Assists patient in preparing for procedures (gowning, transfer to exam table).
• Coordinates outpatient and inpatient department flow by communicating with departments and patient floors.
• Assesses patient comfort and provides support.
• Escort patients to and from the procedure suite and assist with arrival/departure.
• Promotes team approach by interacting with techs, nurses, residents and staff.
• Engages in problem solving and systems implementation to promote quality patient care.
• Assist with room/bay setup and sterile technique as directed.
• Provide basic patient care to promote comfort per technologist.
• Safe patient transport per policy.
• Perform quality control testing and calibrations.
• Upon competency, perform routine IV placement for imaging procedures.
• Obtain patient history and vitals prior to procedures.
• Perform i-stat functions for POCT.
• Observe and report patient concerns to RN.
• Assist technologist with examinations (groin prep, IV placement, labs, POCT).
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and assist in inventory management of the department.
• Prepare entry sites using sterile technique.
• Mentor Radiology Tech Assistants during onboarding.
