Job summary

The Lifespan facility, The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI, is seeking a Tech Assistant to support Diagnostic Imaging operations. You will transport patients, prepare rooms and equipment, and assist radiology staff to ensure smooth, high-quality imaging services while following ALARA practices.

The role emphasizes patient-centered care, safety, and collaboration with technologists and nurses. This position is on-site and requires flexibility for varied shifts and patient needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Tech Assistant training or clinical healthcare background preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Foster patient-centered care aligned with hospital mission and patient age needs.
• Ensure quality assurance, safety, infection control per policies.
• Prepare room, equipment and supplies; assist with imaging procedures.
• Assist technologist and radiologist during procedures as needed.
• Demonstrate competency with IVs and infection control.
• Assist with patient transport and room turnover during imaging procedures.
• Manage supplies and inventory; stock processing areas.
• Process information in PACS/LifeChart and review worklists.
• Greet and orient patients; explain procedures and address questions.
• Assist with cleaning and room turnover after exams.
