Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator to manage patient appointments, surgeries, and follow-ups across units. You will ensure testing, authorizations, and patient preparation are complete while maintaining accurate charts and coordinating with clinicians and departments.

In this role you will verify insurance, arrange for special equipment, and maintain the master calendar. Strong customer service, medical terminology familiarity, and problem-solving skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent required.
• 3 years as a Procedure Scheduler.
• Ability to problem-solve and provide effective resolutions.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior.
• Familiar with medical terminology.
• Radiology and image-guided procedures knowledge preferred.
• Fire Life Safety Training within LA City — within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, plan, and prioritize workload anticipating conflicts.
• Submit for approval and schedule biopsy requests.
• Coordinate nursing staff to ensure adequate resources and avoid conflicts.
• Schedule anesthesia for all cases as required.
• Schedule exams for Interventional procedures, Bronch Lab, and Gamma Knife
• Verify insurance and authorizations with insurance/Admitting Department.
• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in entering information into the computer system.
• Communicates all changes with patient and case information to all involved personnel.
• Adheres to protecting patient confidentiality.
• Works positively with colleagues to create an effective, efficient work place dedicated to customer service
• Demonstrates flexibility, self-direction, accuracy and problem solving skills in daily activity.
• Confirm patient appointments, and give any preparation instructions as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
