Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks a Radiological Controls Shift Lead I to provide leadership and mentorship for the RCT team. The role serves as a subject matter expert for Radiological Controls Operations and helps management prepare the team for work execution while ensuring compliance with radiological program requirements.

Essential duties include planning, training, and oversight of radiological work, maintaining regulatory knowledge, and ensuring safety and proper task execution.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent with SRCT qualification and ability to qualify as SRCT or already SRCT qualified, with years of relevant experience.
  • Alternative pathways include operator qualification with SRCT eligibility and 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Associates degree plus SRCT qualification and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelors degree plus SRCT qualification and 1+ year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and mentoring for the Radiological Controls team.
  • Serve as SME for Radiological Controls Operations and assist management in work readiness and compliance.
  • Plan, train, and oversee radiological work to ensure timely and correct execution.
  • Maintain knowledge of local, NNPP, and Federal radiological regulations.
  • Ensure work tasks follow established radiological, environmental, safety, industrial hygiene and criticality controls.
  • Ensure worker safety and training program development for the team.
  • Mentor RCTs during day-to-day operations and lead casualty response activities.
  • Communicate work status and issues clearly to management and Naval Reactors Local Field Office.
