Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory is hiring a Radiological Controls Technician (RCT) to support the NPTU-Charleston MTS site in Goose Creek, SC. The RCT will move radioactive material, release materials, and perform sampling and decontamination duties while working a rotating shift.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience, or related nuclear qualifications. Attendance at the five-month RCTQS at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, with expenses covered, is required if not

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience, or
  • High school diploma or equivalent with Naval Nuclear Propulsion Operator qualification and 3+ years experience, or
  • High school diploma and RCTQS qualified with 2+ years experience, or
  • Associates degree or Journeyman's Papers with 2+ years experience, or
  • Bachelors degree in a related field with 0+ years experience.

Responsibilities

  • Move all radioactive material on site using a computer system.
  • Release radioactive material and count samples for release.
  • Perform environmental sampling (water, sediment, air) and decontamination.
  • Pack radioactive material for disposal and conduct surveys on shipboard.
