Job summary

The Knolls Radiological Engineering group at Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking highly motivated Engineers to deepen expertise in Radiological Controls. Radiological Engineers provide subject matter expertise, independent oversight of Laboratory work, and guidance on local and program regulatory requirements.

The selected candidate will be trained as an Engineer of Radiological Work (ERW), support Chemistry and Ceramics Laboratories, participate in Knolls and Fleet Emergency Response as a Dose

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical, engineering or science field with at least 6 years of relevant experience; or a Master's with at least 4 years; or a Doctorate with at least 1 year; or currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or RPCO Engineer at the company.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work under pressure and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to mentor staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide radiological controls expertise and oversight for laboratory projects.
  • Lead cross-organizational efforts to implement regulatory requirements and sponsor programs.
  • Help develop and revise Radiological Controls Manuals and liaison with customers on changes.
