Job description

Overview

Under general supervision of Technical Group Leadership and Chief Technologist Operations, the Radiologic Technologist provides skill and initiative to the department mission through interactions with staff, Chief Technologist and others as necessary. Primary duties are to work as technologist on either East Newton or Harrison Avenue campus while also implementing policy and procedures as determined necessary through Radiology Supervisor, Operations Manager and Radiology Administration Director.

Position: Radiologic Technologist I. Department: Diagnostic Radiology. Schedule: Part Time, Per Diem.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic imaging for trauma, inpatients and outpatients, ensuring proper positioning, technique and exposure factors with a goal to use the lowest radiation dose possible.
  • Set up equipment, produce quality radiographs for radiologists and other colleagues, and perform other duties as requested by the X-ray Lead, Supervisor, Manager, and Radiology Director.
  • Perform exams on patients of all ages in all areas where Diagnostic Radiology is located and needed.
  • Ensure best turnaround time for all ordered exams to reduce delays in care; verify that exams ordered match the reason for exam and patient presentation, condition and history.
Patient Care and Safety
  • Prepare patients for exams, ensuring safety, comfort, and modesty at all times; verify patient identifiers (name, DOB, MRN) and correct exam and laterality for every order.
  • Monitor patient condition during exams and take appropriate action; follow established infection control and safety procedures and use AIDET communication framework.
  • Document exams properly in Radiology Information System and PACS with all required details; maintain professionalism in person and on the phone.
Administrative and Compliance
  • Maintain licensure, certifications, CEUs and mandatory compliance requirements.
Job Requirements
  • Current or ability to obtain one of the following: Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License and ARRT Certification/Registration, or Temporary Massachusetts Rad Tech License (pass ARRT registry within one year and obtain permanent licensure within one year).
  • Current BLS/CPR Certification or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Completion of two years post-high school training in an approved school of radiologic technology.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and operation of radiologic equipment.
Preferred Qualifications and Role Expectations
  • One year of Radiologic Technology experience in a hospital preferred.
  • Maintain Continuing Education Units; excellent communication, initiative.
