Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographic examinations with emphasis on accuracy and patient safety. You will prepare, position, and image patients, following departmental guidelines and maintaining equipment, while ensuring proper film handling and radiation protection.

The role requires completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program, a MA license or temporary license with ARRT eligibility, and BLS.

Qualifications

  • Completed an approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Associate's degree in radiologic technology preferred.
  • Massachusetts license or temporary license with ARRT certification or eligible (1 year to obtain).
  • BLS required.
  • Strong collaboration and communication with Radiology clients; explain examination to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Follow departmental guidelines, selects type and number of films to provide diagnostic information.
  • May deviate from established routine under special circumstances depending on clinical condition of patient.
  • Prepare and position patients relative to diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform radiographic examinations with a high degree of accuracy, minimizing repeat films.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of working area.
  • Maintain flow of patients through area and quality of films under the direct supervision of the Technical Manager.
  • Demonstrate knowledgeable operation of radiographic equipment with proper radiation safety measures.
  • Maintain professional demeanor toward patients and medical staff.
  • Perform necessary functions to ensure patient care including clerical duties and patient transport.
  • Assist Technical Manager in daily processor/film sensitometry.
  • Complete all patient tracking functions for accurate billing, report transcription, and film retrieval.

  • Minimum Education/Experience: Successful completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program. Associate's degree in radiologic technology preferred.
  • Minimum Skills/Abilities: Must be able to collaborate and effectively communicate with Radiology clients. Interpersonal skills sufficient to satisfactorily explain examination process to patients. Level of knowledge associated with completion of Radiologic Technology program.
  • Certification/Licensure: Valid Massachusetts State license or temporary license and ARRT certification or eligible with one year to obtain. BLS required.

  • Perform all necessary functions to ensure effective patient care including clerical duties and patient transport.
  • Assist Technical Manager in daily processor/film sensitometry.
  • Complete all patient tracking functions to ensure proper and accurate billing, report transcription, and film retrieval.
Compensation Range

$40.21 - $59.74 per hour. Compensation is based on education, experience, licensure, and certifications.
