Job summary

Ochsner Health System seeks an Radiologic assistant to support licensed radiologic technologists in delivering patient-centered imaging services. You will assist with procedures, maintain safety protocols, and ensure accurate documentation within our radiology data systems.

The role emphasizes ALARA compliance, patient communication, and collaboration with the radiology team to provide timely care across the patient care process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; enrollment in an accredited Medical Imaging Program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by American Heart Association.
• Knowledge of radiology procedures and ability to operate radiology equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for visit by completing documentation, answering questions, and ensuring understanding of procedure.
• Cleans and prepares the examination room for next appointment.
• Verifies physician orders and procedures for accuracy to ensure provider is prepared for visit.
• Maintains radiographic equipment and work area to departmental standards.
• Performs radiology imaging adhering to ALARA principle.
• Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards are met.
• Performs quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards in a timely manner.
• Adapts behavior to the patient population and maintains patient privacy.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
