Job summary

Ochsner Health System in Kenner, LA is seeking a Radiology Support Assistant to assist a registered radiologic technologist with limited radiographic procedures. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, enrollment in a Medical Imaging Program, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Current enrollment in good standing in an accredited Medical Imaging Program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Knowledge of diagnostic radiology procedures and operation/maintenance of radiology equipment; ability to safely operate radiology equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for visit by documenting, answering questions and ensuring understanding of procedure.
• Cleans and prepares the examination room for the next appointment.
• Verifies physician orders and procedures for accuracy to ensure provider is prepared for visit.
• Maintains radiographic equipment and work area to departmental standards.
• Performs radiology imaging adhering to ALARA and regulatory standards.
• Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards.
• Performs quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards; notifies/remediates as necessary.
• Adapts communication and approach to the patient population and maintains patient privacy.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
