Job summary

Plastipak Packaging, Inc. in Jackson Center, OH, is seeking an R&D Process Engineering Technician to operate and test plastic containers and related tooling at our R&D Center.

You will monitor production processes, adjust machine settings, perform mold changes, and troubleshoot issues to ensure quality and efficiency in a climate-controlled, food-grade facility. The role follows a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:30am to 4:00pm with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 2+ years in manufacturing environment preferred.
• Proficient mechanical, electrical or other technical/machine operation experience.
• Working knowledge of extrusion or blow molding equipment preferred.
• Ability to work OT when needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor equipment to develop and test plastic containers and tooling.
• Perform machine adjustments: programming, heat controls, cooling water temps, pressures, extrusion and hydraulic units.
• Conduct quality control checks to meet specifications and eliminate defects.
• Perform mold changes and setup within scheduled mold change times; coordinate with production schedules.
• Troubleshoot mold problems and perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machines and auxiliary equipment.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities focused on safety, reliability, quality and scrap reduction.
