Job summary

Plastipak is seeking an R&D Process Engineering Technician to operate equipment for developing and testing plastic containers at our Jackson Center, OH center. You will monitor production processes, adjust settings, troubleshoot, and support mold changes to meet specs and quality standards.

The role emphasizes quality, safety and continuous improvement with a Monday–Friday schedule and a clean, climate-controlled facility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent with 2+ years working experience.
• Proficient mechanical, electrical or other technical/machine operation experience.
• Working knowledge of extrusion or blow molding equipment is preferred.
• Ability to work OT when needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform & monitor setting adjustments such as machine programming, heat controls, cooling water temps, pressures and operation of extrusion/hydraulic units.
• Perform quality checks and help maintain customer requirements; adjust to correct defects.
• Perform mold changes and setup within scheduled timeframes using in-process sheets.
• Coordinate mold setup with production schedules to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
• Troubleshoot mold problems, determine root cause and implement quick permanent corrective actions.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machines and auxiliary equipment.
• Join with the team to identify continuous improvement opportunities focusing on safety, reliability, quality & scrap reduction.
