Job summary

ABB Smart Power seeks a highly skilled R&D Power System Control Engineer for on-site work in Richmond, VA. You will analyze requirements, model control systems, and integrate hardware/software, using MATLAB/Simulink to design, simulate, and optimize performances.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) or related field.
Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
Proficient in MATLAB toolboxes (Control System, Power Systems).
Proficient in Simulink modelling and code generation.
Able to implement PID, droop, AVR/PSS and power electronic controls.
Strong English communication skills.
Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

Analyze system requirements and design control models using MATLAB/Simulink.
Develop, simulate, and optimize control algorithms for MV AC power systems.
Specify and integrate hardware and software for control systems.
Test, validate, and troubleshoot to ensure safe, reliable operation.
Perform stability studies and grid-forming/following strategies.
