Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support power infrastructure projects at a customer facility in Richmond, VA. The role combines controls design, PLC/HMI programming, and on-site field support for critical power distribution equipment.

You will work with engineering, purchasing, and operations teams, travel to client locations as needed, and ensure compliance with UL 508A, NEC, and ISO quality processes while delivering reliable, safe automation solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience designing industrial control panels and electrical systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Hands-on PLC and HMI programming experience.
• Experience developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs.
• Knowledge of UL 508A, NEC, and applicable industrial safety standards.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and customer design requirements.
• Strong communication, organization, and customer-facing skills.
• Willingness to work on-site in Richmond at least 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Develop wiring diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Support PDU, RPP, control panel, and module programs.
• Perform PLC and HMI programming for control systems.
• Translate customer specifications into an executable scope of supply.
• Develop and maintain bills of materials aligned with configurations.
• Review designs for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance.
