Job summary

Philips is seeking a highly skilled R&D Engineer, Mechanical to design and analyze superconducting MRI magnet systems. You will lead structural design efforts, perform predictive analyses, and guide manufacturability from prototyping to production.

You will work with cross-disciplinary teams, applying GD&T and a range of simulation tools to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions. Office-based role with on-site presence required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain structural designs for superconducting MRI magnet systems, including cryogenic vessels, cryostats, coil structures, and mechanical support systems.
• Create models or analyses to predict static/dynamic loads and stresses using hand calculations, numerical methods, and FEA to guide design decisions.
• Define and execute engineering mitigation activities, including requirements management, FMEA, test planning, prototype test development, data acquisition, analysis, and technical documentation.
• Support prototype development and product industrialization by working with suppliers and manufacturing on component fabrication, supplier qualification, design implementation, and resolution of manufacturing challenges.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Service, and other disciplines to resolve technical and field issues and deliver robust designs.
