Job summary

Siemens Healthineers seeks an R&D Lab Technician to join the Interventional Oncology development team. You will assist with prototype development, benchtop testing, and data analysis for microsphere devices, ensuring quality and feasibility for regulatory workflows.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on mechanical skills, CAD experience, and familiarity with rapid prototyping and test methods, supporting design decisions for implantable therapies.

Qualifications

• Associate or 4-year degree preferred in Mechanical/Biomedical/Engineering tech.
• 2+ years of laboratory experience, preferably in a medical device or regulated industry.
• Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience assembling and evaluating mechanical, fluidic, or electromechanical systems preferred.
• Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Experience with rapid prototyping methods including 3D printing, machining, laser cutting, or fixture fabrication preferred.
• Knowledge of lab and engineering test methods; regulatory awareness preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, maintain, and troubleshoot prototype devices, test fixtures, and lab equipment.
• Design, build, and modify benchtop test setups to evaluate device performance.
• Support product development through prototype assembly, testing, data collection, and design iteration.
• Conduct performance characterization and verification testing of prototype systems and components.
• Assist in root cause investigations through hands-on troubleshooting and failure analysis.
• Maintain prototype inventory, engineering hardware, tooling, and test fixtures.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop benchtop experiments and studies.
• Operate lab equipment, observe, collect data, and document findings.
• Characterize microsphere-based devices for mechanical and performance properties.
• Perform quality assurance testing to ensure conformance to specifications.
