Job summary

Boston Scientific in Minnesota (Maple Grove) is seeking an R&D Engineer to join Interventional Oncology product development. You will design, test, and refine medical devices, collaborate with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing teams to ensure project success, and contribute to a robust pipeline of innovations.

The role requires a Biomedical Engineering degree, at least 3 months in Interventional Oncology R&D, and prior Boston Scientific internship;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
  • 3 months experience in Interventional Oncology Research and Development.
  • Prior internship experience with Boston Scientific.
  • Written protocols and/or reports that represent the scientific method and drive innovation.
  • Performed evaluation experiments for TheraSphere in the commercial space for US and Japan microcatheters.
  • Desire for leadership with traits of being an independent thinker, a self-starter, and a strong communicator.
  • Strong engineering aptitude with a creative, unbiased approach to problem solving.
  • Works well in a team-oriented environment, can contribute and learn from others to arrive at the best solution.

Responsibilities

  • Fully participate in and successfully contribute to project teams: design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process capability studies, report preparation, and process/test documentation.
  • Plan and schedule own activities to meet timelines.
  • Design and coordinate standard engineering tests and experiments.
  • Design, procure, and fabricate tooling and fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot new products/process problems related to design, material, or process.
  • Summarize, analyze, and draw conclusions from test results.
  • Prepare standard reports/documentation to communicate results to the technical community.
  • Responsible for engineering documentation.
  • Invent/create concepts and designs for new products/processes; submit idea disclosures.
  • May train and/or provide work direction to technicians.
  • Collaborate with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success.
  • Develop and demonstrate TDP/PPD system knowledge through delivery of high quality deliverables.
