Job summary

The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA, seeks a Financial Analyst II, R&D Strategic Finance to support financial strategy and analysis across sponsored research and institutional funding.

You will partner with PIs and administrative leadership, translate data into actionable guidance, and ensure compliance while balancing long-range planning and grant management. This is an on-campus role with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote weekly.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of financial analysis in life sciences or academic research.
• Experience with grant-funded or restricted funding environments preferred.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complex financial projections for sponsored research and institutional funding.
• Monitor funding utilization, identify risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Prepare reports and deliverables for PIs, leadership, and external stakeholders.
• Serve as financial partner to PIs and research teams on spending and funding strategy.
• Ensure records and documentation align with award requirements and audits.
