Job summary

The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA, seeks a Financial Analyst II, R&D Strategic Finance, to shape financial strategy across sponsored research and institutional funding. You will work with PIs and leadership, providing forward-looking insights, managing constraints, and ensuring compliance in a grant-driven environment.

Supported by ERP (Workday) and Excel, you will translate data into actionable guidance on spending and staffing, balancing strategic planning with hands-on problem

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in financial analysis within life sciences, academic research, healthcare, or similarly complex environments.
• Experience supporting grant-funded or restricted funding environments is strongly preferred.
• Ability to understand business drivers and communicate succinctly to a range of audiences from PIs to executives.
• Adaptable to changing priorities while managing multiple commitments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complex financial projections and long-range planning across funding sources.
• Monitor funding utilization, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and deliver financial reporting to PIs, leadership, and external stakeholders.
• Partner with PIs and research teams on spending, staffing, and funding strategy.
