Job summary

ABB in Bloomfield, CT, seeks an experienced mechanical design engineer to contribute to R&D programs within our Panelboards and Lighting teams. You will design, model, and Drawings using PTC Creo/Windchill, lead projects through manufacturing, and ensure compliance with cost, reliability and safety requirements.

Applicants should have a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years in R&D, strong English communication, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• You enjoy solving technical problems and developing products and solutions in the electrification market.
• Experience in mechanical design (3D modeling and 2D drawing using PTC Creo or similar tools) and engineering analysis.
• Growth mindset with continual learning, in an agile environment focused on delivering value.
• Experience in electromechanical design & testing of electrical components or equipment (e.g., Panelboards, switchboards, circuit breakers).
• Experience supporting New Product Introductions (NPI) within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• BS Mechanical Engineering or similar with 5+ years in R&D.
• You communicate effectively in English.
• Willing to travel domestically & internationally.
• You have US work authorization and sponsorship is not required.

Responsibilities

• Design, development, and manufacturing implementation of R&D programs meeting business and product requirements.
• Understand and apply processes, standards, guidelines, and requirements, including architectural and design constraints.
• Execute designs with solid modeling software (PTC Creo / Windchill) to create models, assemblies, drawings, and BOMs.
• Lead and support R&D projects from ideation through manufacturing implementation, achieving targets and managing risks.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the chapter, developing new capabilities, skills, and technical knowledge.
