Job summary

ABB in Bloomfield, Connecticut is offering an engineering internship where you will gain hands-on experience in product design, analysis, and documentation. You will participate in Agile workflows, manage user stories in Azure DevOps, and contribute to projects applying Design for Six Sigma and reliability practices.

You will work with Creo/Windchill to develop models, drawings, and BOMs while aligning with regulatory standards (UL, CSA, NEC) and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering in the United States.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

Responsibilities

• Exposure to design, develop, analyze, and document product designs meeting functional, cost, reliability, and safety requirements.
• Work in an Agile environment, pull backlog items and deliver them to acceptance criteria with guidance from R&D Project Leader.
• Demonstrate conformance to technical specifications and standards using DFSS and Design for Reliability methodologies.
• Create and maintain User stories in Azure DevOps with supporting documentation for design work and present materials for technical reviews.
• Create models and drawings using Creo/Windchill to support designs including plastics, stamped metal, and electrical parts.
• Prepare and maintain product documentation, manuals, notebooks, and regulatory compliance documents (UL, CSA, NEC).
• Participate in design reviews and cost analysis of mechanical/electrical designs.
• Assist cross-functional team collaboration with purchasing and manufacturing; support supplier evaluation.
• Attend team meetings and brainstorming sessions; work in a collaborative team environment.
• Seek feedback from manager and team members to improve performance and skills.
