Job summary

Siemens is seeking candidates for a Research & Development Summer-Fall Co-op in Wendell, NC. You will support projects in the Electrification and Automation division, focusing on power distribution equipment and future grid technologies.

This internship runs May 2027 through Fall 2027, with on-site work at the Wendell, NC office. Responsibilities include designing 3D models, producing drawings, supporting prototype builds, and addressing design non-conformances.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of 3D modeling tools.
• Enrollment in NC State University co-op program.
• On-site, full-time availability during Summer/Fall 2027 (40 hrs/week).
• Within 50 miles of Wendell, NC; no housing/relocation provided.
• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support R&D projects for Low Voltage Motor Control Centers, including VFDs and disconnect switches.
• Create and update 3D models of copper and sheet metal assemblies for manufacturing.
• Develop part and assembly drawings and verify design accuracy.
• Assist with prototype builds by preparing JT files and hands-on activities.
• Complete product support tasks related to non-conformances and design errors.
