Job summary

Intel's Quantum Computing Group in the United States seeks a Quantum Design Engineer to scale qubit processors from concept through tapeout and fab integration. You will collaborate with qubit, control, and system teams, as well as lithography and design tooling groups, to advance silicon-based quantum processors.

The role emphasizes hands-on design validation, signal integrity, routing strategies, and cross-disciplinary problem solving, with a strong focus on practical quantum hardware

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience, Master's with 3 years, or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Cryogenic Engineering, Quantum Technologies, or Quantum Engineering
• Must possess 1+ years experience with at least one of the following: EM modeling and simulation tools for signal integrity/crosstalk analysis; Standard cell design, design automation flow implementation (SKILL, VSR, MSOA or equivalent); Digital design tools and APR based routing design; Designing and taping out designs on a foundry process PDK with standard validations (DRC, LVS, PEX)
• Implementing PDK collateral and design flows to enable and maintain design environments

Responsibilities

• Establish qubit processes and design rules with lithography and process teams
• Architect qubit and readout element standard cell design and automation
• Collaborate with TCAD and PDK engineers to create qubit models and extraction capabilities
• Analyze tradeoffs on quantum error correction schemes vs qubit topology
• Design automation to enable front end design automation and routing generation for large-scale quantum processors
• Develop automated place and route flows for qubit routing including AI-based routing optimization
• Drive signal integrity analysis to define routing strategies for large-scale quantum processors
• Co-design interposer interfaces and routing strategies for bridging qubit processors to ASIC control
• Perform industry-standard validations such as DRC, LVS, and extraction prior to tape-in signoff
• Work with external customers to understand needs and provide solutions based on Intel's quantum PDK
