Job summary

IonQ, Inc. is seeking a Microarchitecture (uArch) Researcher to lead efforts on fault-tolerant architectures for ion trap quantum processors. You will help design, simulate, and implement large-scale chip architectures, contributing to both physical and logical aspects of quantum hardware.

You will work with trap designers, AMO physicists, QEC researchers and publish results in papers and technical writings, strengthening our position as a leader in quantum computing.

Qualifications

• Four years of research experience in quantum computing or chip architecture.
• Degree in quantum computing, physics, engineering, chemistry or a related field.
• Strong expertise in AMO theory, QEC theory, QCVV theory or classical VLSI theory.
• Ability to communicate results through papers and technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the physical implementation of quantum error correction protocols on ion trap processors.
• Contribute to a library of simulation tools that analyse logical performance under realistic physical noise.
• Collaborate with trap designers, AMO physicists, QEC researchers and a broad spectrum of other research backgrounds.
• Contribute to research papers and other technical writing.
