Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Engineer 3 to serve as the Quality Verification Engineer in SeaTac, WA. You will oversee the Design-Builder’s quality control and assurance activities and drive the State’s quality verification processes through final design and construction.

In this role you will review submittals, monitor compliance with Design-Build requirements, and lead meetings with project teams to ensure standards, specifications, and contractual

Qualifications

• Civil engineering knowledge applied to transportation projects.
• Experience as a construction inspector on design-build projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret plans, specs, and cost estimates per contract.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate state vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality verification and oversight of design-build construction activities.
• Plan, schedule, direct and monitor state and consultant oversight activities.
• Prepare Quality Verification audits.
• Assist Change Order preparation and processing.
• Review monthly progress payment invoices and verify work completed.
• Lead field inspection duties and supervise staff.
• Plan, assign, and review work; adjust staffing as needed.
• Lead, coach, and mentor assigned staff.
