Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) in SeaTac, WA seeks a skilled Transportation Engineer 3 to serve as the Quality Verification Engineer. Lead quality control and assurance for a complex design-build project, coordinating with the Project Engineer and Field Operations Manager.

You will review submittals, monitor compliance with design-build requirements, and participate in task force meetings across utility, staging, and schedule areas.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated understanding of civil engineering principles and their application to transportation projects.
• Experience serving as a construction project inspector on design-build projects and applying quality management processes.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities with personnel management experience.
• Ability to read, interpret, and review plans, specifications and cost estimates per project requirements.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
• Analytical skills to evaluate issues, options, and solutions with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design-build construction activities for quality verification and oversight.
• Plan, schedule, direct and monitor state and consultant oversight activities.
• Prepare Quality Verification audits and participate in change order processes.
• Review monthly invoices to verify work completion and progress.
• Supervise field staff responsible for quality verification and inspections.
• Coordinate with project offices and teams to ensure staffing aligns with workload.
• Mentor staff and promote collaborative problem solving.
